Online Teaching
I've found a rewarding way to contribute to society through online teaching for primary school children in rural China. The experience has been both enlightening and fulfilling, offering me a chance to share knowledge and culture with eager young minds.
In one of my classes, I introduced the concept of money and bills from around the world. It was fascinating to see the children's curiosity sparked as they learned about different currencies, from the US dollar to the Japanese yen. I explained how each bill tells a story about a country's history and culture, and we even had a virtual treasure hunt where they identified various international currencies. The children's enthusiasm was contagious, and it was gratifying to see them so engaged and interested.
In another class, I brought in my erhu, a traditional Chinese musical instrument. I played a few pieces, explaining the history and significance of the erhu in Chinese culture. The children were captivated by the unique sound of the instrument, and some even expressed a desire to learn how to play it. Sharing my passion for music with them was an incredible experience, and it highlighted the importance of cultural education.
These online teaching sessions have allowed me to make a meaningful impact on these children's lives, broadening their horizons and fostering a love for learning and culture. It's a small effort with significant rewards, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to be a part of their educational journey.
