ABOUT ME
Frank T. McAndrew, the author of the article "Home is Where the Heart is, but Where is 'Home'?" from Psychology Today, states that "'Home' is the place where you feel in control and properly oriented in space and time" and "a predictable and secure place" (McAndrew).
Hello! My name is Leo, and I'm a 17-year-old student currently studying at Shanghai American School. Born in Shanghai and holding a Canadian passport, I often find myself navigating the complexities of a multicultural identity, which has enriched my perspective on the world.
I am a thoughtful person with many insightful ideas, constantly pondering the inequalities in today's dynamic world and considering how I can contribute to positive change. One of my passions is the Miao culture in China's mountainous regions. The rich traditions and vibrant artistry of the Miao people captivate me, and I am dedicated to learning more about their heritage and supporting its preservation.
Academically, I have a strong interest in mathematics, finance and economics. These subjects challenge me and fuel my curiosity. I am also an active participant in various extracurricular activities, such as the Blue Ocean Business Competition, FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America), and BPA (Business Professionals of America). Through these experiences, I've developed a keen interest in entrepreneurship and strategic thinking.
I've attended summer programs at NYU and Wharton, where I deepened my understanding of statistics, data science, economics and finance. Additionally, I worked on a statistics-related project that enhanced my analytical skills and provided valuable insights into data interpretation.
Beyond academics, I enjoy swimming, playing tennis, and making music. I play the piano and the erhu, a traditional Chinese instrument, which allows me to express myself creatively and connect with my cultural roots.
This fall, I am excited to apply to American colleges, eager to explore new opportunities, challenge myself academically, and grow in an environment that values diversity and innovation.
Thank you for visiting my website! Feel free to reach out if you share any of my interests or just want to connect.
